The Studio at OWL PRODUCTIONS

The centerpiece of the studio is a Roland VS-2480 workstation featuring all of the latest plug-ins available for the unit.  This includes Antares Auto-Tune, TC Electronics Reverb, IK Multimedia T-Racks Mastering Suite, Massenburg EQ,  Chrome Tone guitar simulation and effects, and LA2A and 1176N tube compressor/limiters.  The Roland VS-2480 produces pristine 24-bit sound.  24 tracks of audio are available (with 384 virtual tracks).  Add to this a virtually unlimited supply of sequenced tracks and there’s plenty of capacity for the most demanding projects. 

The midi sequencing is handled by the full-featured Emagic Logic software.  The keyboard midi controller is a beautiful Korg 01W Pro with fully-weighted 88 keys. 

On hand samples include all the on-board Korg sounds (with virtually every sound card ever produced for the 01W).   Additionally, there is a sample library including several Yamaha and Steinway pianos, many organs and electric pianos, guitars, banjos, fiddles, basses, dobros and many orchestral and band instruments.  Sample playback is handled by an Akai S6000 sampler.  A Kurzweil SP88, with all of its onboard sounds, is also available for midi input. 

Audio recording is handled by a wide-array of microphones that are generally recorded through a Demeter H Series tube mic preamp and then through the AD converters of a TC Finalizer Plus.  This process can also utilize the high-end TC Finalizer compression. 

Percussion sounds are handled by an Alesis DM5 and several sample CD’s.  Percussion creation makes use of the wonderful midi creations of DrumTrax.  These provide lengthy midi percussion files in virtually every style imaginable, including world beats, unusual time signatures, etc. 

Microphones available include Schures 57, 58, SM81 (excellent for acoustic guitar) and BG 5.0; Neumann TLM103 and Audio-Technica 4050A (large-diaphram condenser mics excellent for vocals); Beyerdynamic ribbon mics, ElectroVoice RE-16, and an AKG C1000S.
